What you'll do

Get creative with Wallace & Gromit and Aardman Animations in this fun workshop for all the family at the SS Great Britain.

You’ll start by watching Nick Park’s first award-winning short film animation featuring Wallace & Gromit, A Grand Day Out. Then your host Jim Parkyn, Aardman storyteller and lead model maker, will show you how to create your own model Gromit.

This is a really fun, hands-on session and is the perfect opportunity to get creative with clay during the half term holiday. You'll leave the experience with your own model Gromit and the inspiration to get creative with your own characters at home. As a Yuup extra you'll also be given a free 1-day pass to explore Bristol's historic SS Great Britain.

Based on your feedback, this experience will now be 2 hours long and every guest will be given a box to take their model Gromit home in.

About Aardman Animations

Aardman has been telling compelling stories and engaging audiences through animation since 1972, becoming a four-time Academy Award-winning studio, whose work is recognised worldwide. Their beloved characters, from Wallace & Gromit to Shaun the Sheep, have delighted audiences and their work continues to be innovative, entertaining, brilliantly characterised and full of charm. Aardman's first feature length film, Chicken Run, is the highest grossing stop-motion animation film of all time, while Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were-Rabbit and The Pirates! In An Adventure with Scientists! both remain in the top four stop-motion animated films. Throughout Aardman’s incredible success, the company’s roots have remained firmly in Bristol, and it’s here in our city that they continue to run their two film studios, creating magic on-screen and telling stories through animation.

How to get there

What people are saying

This was an excellent workshop, my only criticism was that too much time was spent on watching a W&G video which meant that almost everyone was not able to finish their model in the time allowed. Either a 2 hour slot for this workshop or a much shorter video would have been much better.

Peter Monksfield, Oct 2020

Fantastic teacher xxx really nice guy .. for me personally I would like a little one on one taking as it was just so great

Jessica Hoxha, Oct 2020

Made to feel very welcome by the venue staff and the whole thing was well organised but we were a bit pressed for time as it took time to make each bit of the Gromits. Kids loved it.
