Yuup, we’re coming to Birmingham!

Last updated on Tuesday 16 April 2024

It’s almost exactly 1-year since we launched our full pilot in Bristol, and we could not be prouder of how our home city has gotten behind Yuup.

We’re now a community of over 25,000 people with nearly 300 Bristol hosts actively trading on Yuup and 22,000 experiences sold, putting over £0.5m into the hands of local entrepreneurs and small businesses.

It was always our plan to pilot Yuup in our home city of Bristol before launching Yuup in other cities to help even more communities thrive. We are firmly committed to our investment in Bristol. We have exciting plans to continue to grow our community in Bristol, Bath and the surrounding areas and also plan to scale our Bristol-based HQ team to support expansion to other cities across the UK.

We’ve spent the last few months raising the funds to support our scale-up plans and we’re so grateful to have smashed our crowdfund target – there are just two days left to invest if you would still like to get involved!

While fundraising, we’ve also been carefully considering which city to go to next. We started with a long list of 21 UK cities, before whittling them down to our second city. A city (like Bristol) that is full of creative people, champions local independents and is made up of diverse communities united by a collective desire to share their passions and new experiences.

The more we got to know Birmingham the more we realised we had to launch Yuup there!

Birmingham is thriving. The ‘city of a thousand trades’ was built on Birmingham’s manufacturing heritage. Today, it is a city equally known for its jewellery quarter, its food and drink, and vibrant arts, music, and culture scene. The city effortlessly combines historic canal networks with modern architecture.

The Birmingham 2022 Festival and Commonwealth Games make this year a particularly special one for the city. The festival is a celebration of creativity not just in this great city, but across the West Midlands.

But more importantly, it’s the people of Birmingham and the West Midlands that sold it for us and we can’t wait to help them share their passions when we launch Yuup there this summer.

Our launch preparations are already well underway with some incredibly exciting experience hosts and partnerships in the pipeline. We can’t wait to share them with you!

If you have an idea for a Birmingham experience or host, or would simply like to know when you can book experiences in Birmingham, please get in touch. We would love to hear from you!
