Zine Club, Fanzine Edition: Creative Workshop

Welcome to zine club! An experience where, with the expert guidance of local illustrator Edie Woolf, you will produce a zine of your very own.

What’s a zine, you might ask? Good question! A zine is a form of self publication popularised by the DIY punk scene in the 70’s and beyond. It can be anything from a 6 page booklet of poetry to a large format publication of photography and pretty much anything else you can imagine. As long as it’s made by you, and is a book in some form, it’s a zine!

This edition of zine club is all about showing your love through fanzines! Whether it’s a character, piece of media, food, pet or your best friend, you can pour all of your feelings into a zine! Share your intricate knowledge of anything from brewing coffee to Buffy the Vampire Slayer, all flavours of fandom and nerdiness is welcome to join in.

In a relaxed and quiet setting, Edie will guide you through all the steps you need to make a zine. Using your favourite things as inspiration, you will fold, cut and collage your way to a super cute zine.

This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners: from people who claim to struggle drawing stick men, to artsy hobbyists and even zine making veterans. There is absolutely no pressure to be good, the fun is in allowing yourself to get creative!

All the materials you need will be provided including collage materials, coloured paper, pens and pencils, stickers, sequins and all sorts. A selection of relevant zines from Edie’s vast collection will also be provided for inspiration.

All participants will get a little goodie bag from me and snacks and soft drinks are also included! If you prefer something stronger you’re welcome to BYOB, and there’s an off licence just down the road.
