Wire sculpture & wine on a boat (Portishead)

Welcome aboard the Portishead art boat & enjoy a relaxing introductory taster session into wire sculpture in this 2 person experience! You can create a quirky creative addition to your home on the chilled deck of a vintage Caribbean Cruiser boat in Portishead marina, peacefully working away from all the hustle and bustle.

Your host will be Barbara; an award winning artist and sculptor. Barbara will have everything you need including inspiration, wire, beads and tools. She’ll help you create your own (small-scale) wire sculptures with a range of flexible, easy to use, different coloured wires to work with. There will be examples available to work from and you can of course come with your own ideas, or just get inspiration from exploring the materials.

Enjoy a glass of wine or hot drink & biscuits to get cosy as you discover your creative side and have a relaxing sculpture session whilst floating in the beautiful waterside setting of Portishead marina :)

COVID-19 guidelines

  • The front deck art-making area is separate from the living space and will be thoroughly sanitised
  • This is a private experience for two people and only yourselves and Barbara will be present
  • There is ventilation, hand gel and sanitising wipes available and space for safe social distancing
  • Barbara can wear a mask at all times or just when giving technical assistance and is happy to discuss this before you start the experience so that guests feel safe and relaxed

On the day

  • Your experience will be held on a boat in Portishead Quays Marina, where you’ll find on street parking or a pay & display at the Lock & Control building 5 mins away. The venue is 5 mins from a bus stop with regular buses to Bristol. The closest landmark is Hall & Wodehouse pub BS20 7FP.

  • Barbara will meet you at the marina gate when you arrive at Hall & Woodhouse so it's necessary to make contact before a session; please message beforehand to exchange numbers. Thanks :)

Your host will be Barbara, an experienced artist and teacher. Barbara teaches at Bristol School of Art and the Folk House, and loves sharing art experiences which help people discover their creative side and have fun.
