Look closer at Birmingham’s streets and uncover the nearly invisible details that reveal the city’s hidden past
This experience is part of City Uncovered: Birmingham, taking place from 18th–31st May – a limited-time series of unique, under-the-radar experiences designed to help you see the city differently.
Take part in a thoughtful walking experience that explores the subtle traces of Birmingham’s history hidden in plain sight. Beginning in the city centre, you’ll head into lesser-known side streets, where overlooked details - like faded shop signs, architectural flourishes, and fragments of past businesses - tell a quiet, layered story.
As you move through these non-tourist routes, you’ll be encouraged to slow down and observe closely, uncovering clues embedded in the urban landscape. Along the way, expect surprising connections - from local industry to cultural icons like Duran Duran - all woven into a reflective, discovery-led atmosphere.
