Join artist Henry St. Leger for a guided group walk in the breathtaking Forest of Dean. Along the way, Henry will introduce you to a variety of drawing techniques designed to help you capture your journey and see the landscape with fresh eyes.
These sessions are open to everyone—whether you’re picking up a pencil for the first time or are already an experienced artist. The emphasis is on creativity, exploration, and enjoying the natural world through art in an accessible, welcoming way.
What to expect:
• A gentle group walk through the Forest of Dean, with regular pauses to sketch and observe your surroundings
• Guidance from Henry on simple but effective drawing techniques to record your journey
• Time to experiment with your own style—no pressure, no rules
• A relaxed and supportive atmosphere, perfect for beginners and seasoned artists alike

Activities are held outdoors where social distancing is easy to achieve. Participants experiencing any Covid-19 symptoms will not be permitted to attend.
There is parking at the site. Please arrive ten minutes before so I can greet you and provide you with the tools you will need.
All drawing materials are provided on the day to help you get the most out of your walk. Walking is along well-surfaced tracks with gentle uphill or downhill terrain.
Weather-appropriate clothing and footwear are advised. Not all walks have places to sit so be prepared to sit on the floor, logs etc.

Henry St.Leger is a freelance illustrator who lives in the Forest of Dean. He was a storyboard artist on several projects for the BBC Natural History Unit, including ‘Planet Earth’, ‘Life Story’ and ‘Prehistoric Planet’. His personal work is inspired by nature and the surrounding area.
