Ultimate Mum to be Massage

Mums-to-be and new mums, it's time for some much-needed relaxation! Massage is an excellent way to give yourself space to rest, relax and care for yourself at any time, but even more so while you are pregnant. At Pathways of Wellness your host will create the perfect space to nurture, nourish and support you as you transition on your journey to motherhood.

Personalised treatments will alleviate many of the symptoms related to being pregnant such as lower back pain and shoulder tension, pelvic girdle pain, sciatica and restless leg syndrome.

A pregnancy massage is designed to improve your body's circulation, ease fatigue, reduce swelling, and promote good-quality sleep which helps foster a positive relationship between you and your developing baby.

Pregnancy massage in the first trimester offers support at a time when your body undergoes profound changes and your emotions can be overwhelming. And massage is a great way to reduce some of the physical symptoms of early pregnancy such as nausea, swollen breasts and extreme tiredness!

In the second trimester massage can help with heavy legs and tightness in the lower back. It will also help correct any postural weaknesses that may begin to show as the extra baby weight puts strain on your body.

The third trimester tends to be the most physically demanding and massage at this time can bring much-needed relief to tight bum muscles, hips and legs as well as relief from anxiety. It can help with tiredness that is common during this trimester too. It is a great time to begin to learn to deeply relax and train your mind to let go and that way massage is aiding your readiness for the labour.

Massage for postnatal recovery can help you relieve stress and will support your abdominal and pelvic floor muscles to get back in shape. It will allow you, as a new parent, space for emotional processing and will help process any trauma that may have been experienced during birthing.

Treatments will take place in a comfortable position, taking into account your changing body.

When is it safe to receive a massage while pregnant?

A woman can begin massage therapy at any point in her pregnancy. And in most cases, it is safe and beneficial to receive massage up to and beyond the due date of the pregnancy. If you are unsure due to your specific condition or circumstances please speak to your midwife or your GP before booking this experience.
