Whether you’re a graphic designer who wants to shake off the screen, a painter who wants to explore a graphic medium, or someone who wants to scratch a creative itch, this creative workshop is designed to give everyone the chance to enjoy the versatile process of lithography.
Bring along some images to work from, or have your sketchbook on hand as a starting point, then during this 2 day workshop, Steph, your incredibly experienced printmaker host will take you through the lithography journey. Artists such as Picasso and Paula Rego regularly used transfer papers to create their lithographs, enjoying the creative freedom it provided. During this workshop students will learn how to: ● Make their own transfer paper. ● Be given an opportunity to draw, transfer and print an image. And ● Look at how textures and photographic images can be incorporated through transfer methods. This course is suitable for anyone wanting to expand upon their knowledge of lithography or is also a great introduction to the process!
A bit more about transfer paper... Transfer processes have been used since the beginning of lithography’s invention offering artists the opportunity to work without the worry of reversing an image, which is particularly useful when dealing with text. Instead of working directly onto a plate or stone artists work on a precoated gum paper allowing them to work wherever they chose before returning to the studio.
