Shibori Indigo Masterclass — with Rhyannan Hall
Immerse yourself in the refined art of Japanese shibori with a rigorous, small-group masterclass. You’ll go far beyond ‘tie-dye,’ building authentic skills to create genuine shibori resist—no shortcuts, no half measures. I’ll teach you how to properly apply and master shibori resist for strong, consistent results, so your work stands apart from imitation techniques.
Learn about the mechanisms at play in shibori that make for crisp, repeatable patterns, and hone your technique with direct, tailored feedback throughout the day. With teaching textiles and resource books sourced firsthand from Japan, you’ll access not only authentic materials but also the artistic heritage passed directly from master artisans. With a small class size of only 4 participants, no question will go unanswered.

Rhyannan has oodles of experience. This was such a great experience - being taught by a master. Highly recommend!
I really enjoyed this workshop with Rhyannan, she gave a great introduction to Shibori and I found learning about the technique and variation between different types/styles so interesting. The workshop was very relaxed and it was great to see some of the samples Rhyannan brought back from her research trip in Japan. I'm really pleased with the 2 pieces I made. Thanks for a great day :-)
