Bristol Film Festival’s vintage screenings pair classic films with thematically linked wine tastings, all in the stunning setting of Averys Wine Merchants’ historic wine cellar. Following a sparkling wine reception, the film will be accompanied by a tasting of four carefully selected wines courtesy of Averys’ resident experts.

FBI trainee Clarice Starling is hunting for a serial killer nicknamed “Buffalo Bill”. At the urging of her boss, she seeks insights on Bill’s psyche from the brilliant psychiatrist but notorious incarcerated cannibal Dr. Hannibal Lecter. However, Lecter is a master of mind games, and soon Clarice is embroiled in a dangerous and nightmarish case that threatens to engulf her.

Averys began in 1793 and over the years, the family has built its reputation as one of the UK’s most pioneering wine merchants. Their historic wine cellar can be found beneath their shop on Culver Street, and is an atmospheric and intimate setting for our both our Screening Room and our popular Vintage Screenings series.
