EmailNew to mending? Learning how to fix your clothes is a great life skill that will help to keep your favourite items going for longer.
In this class, Meret of Re_Thrindle will teach you basic mending techniques, including fixing seams and hems, re-attaching buttons, and simple patching. Bring an item in need of mending, all other materials will be provided.
What to expect:
- Learn a range of stitching techniques and simple patching
- Learn beginner-friendly repair skills
- Repair a well-loved item of clothing
This workshop is best for broken seams, missing buttons, minor mends.

How to get there
On the day
- Meet Meret in the fashion department workshop space at Sparks Bristol (it’s the yellow corner next to the rework atelier). Bring an item to work on.

Rethrindle CIC
Rethrindle CIC is a social enterprise facilitating affordable mending and sewing workshops and repair services to encourage sustainable clothing practices. Our aim is to create an exciting and creative environment for mending and sewing, to share our skills and to inspire alternative ways to engage with our clothes.
In collaboration with Rebel Patch they run the Slow Fashion Studio. Rebel Patch challenges clothing waste by creating limited edition art patches in collaboration with local artists to repair, upcycle and customise your clothes.

Meret runs Rethrindle CIC, a social enterprise facilitating affordable mending and sewing workshops and repair services to encourage sustainable clothing practices. She’s a skilled sewist with a background in fashion design and enjoys different crafting techniques mixing skills with creativity to make her garments one of a kind.
