Synchronicity: interactive poetry with Jonny Heath

What you'll do

This experience explores the special kind of magic that happens when we come together and share our stories.

This is an invitation to tap into the poetic mystery of life, the creative energy of chance, and discover the transformative power found at the points where our unique worlds meet.

Synchronicity centres around those meaningful coincidences that we just can't seem to explain with logic. Illusion or not, this phenomenon has the power to change the way we see the world around us.

In this workshop, you will be asked to bring three things: an object, a memory, and a wish. You'll be invited to speak about the first two things with the group - but the wish will remain a secret.

Your experience will be hosted by Jonny Heath, a full-time poet. Jonny spent three years as a nomadic artist writing poems and stories for people on the street with an old typewriter.

Your host will begin by drawing on his adventures, to tell you the story of a series of chance encounters that changed him forever.

It will then be your turn to share yours with the group, for up to ten minutes. Jonny will ask questions designed to assist you in this process. Through this collective sharing and listening, the group will absorb shared wisdom and inspiration.

Jonny uses skills honed as a workshop facilitator to create a safe space where guests can share and listen to one another comfortably, sharing as much or as little as they like, without pressure or obligation.

Your host will invite you to get comfortable, sitting or lying down. You will begin connecting with your inner world through a short guided meditation. All you have to do is listen to the calming sounds of the typewriter, as Jonny writes a spontaneous poem: an intuitive imprint of the world that the group has created together through their dialogue.

To conclude the workshop, Jonny will perform the piece. Prepare to leave with a magical glow, nourished by the joy that arises when we connect with others and allow ourselves to be seen.

You will also receive a signed print of the typewritten poem created in the session (they look gorgeous in a frame). This means you can read and re-read it to your heart’s content. Who knows what new meanings may arise with the passing of the weeks, months, or even years…

This experience is suitable for a minimum of three guests and a maximum of six. There's no need for you to have known one another before.

About Jonny Writes Words

Jonny writes stories and poems for people, with an old typewriter, on the street. This nomadic artist has written thousands of them - on a journey spanning multiple continents and many cities.

Jonny is a modern incarnation of the ancient travelling Bard, exploring mental health, philosophy and mysticism in a way that uncovers the hidden connections between us all. His workshops provide an opportunity for guests to tap into this themselves.

Before being a full-time poet, Jonny worked as a carer and support worker, helping the young, the elderly, and those struggling with their mental health. Empathy and compassion are extremely important to him and are pillars of his work.

Your host

Jonny Heath

Before becoming a full-time poet, Jonny worked as a carer. He's worked with the elderly, young people and adults with mental health difficulties in various roles.

He's run a creative writing group that focused on mental health. Jonny's also worked as a meditation teacher and has spent a decade practising himself.

These experiences have taught Jonny how much people value having a space where they feel they're seen and heard, without judgement. He thinks everyone can benefit from having an open listening space - creating this is one of his skills.
