Studio Sessions: Still Life Drawing

Looking for ways to take time to yourself, relaxing and getting creative? Then come along for this still-life drawing session, where you will be guided in the art of drawing a range of interesting objects!

This visually engaging and relaxing drawing session provides the perfect opportunity for people of all levels to momentarily unplug from the world and tune into a creative space.

Whether you would like to hone your existing skills, quiet a busy mind or try something completely new, this is the perfect opportunity to do just that.

Natural and man-made objects will be arranged on white wooden plinths, with a focus on colour, shape and form as your host Lauren guides you through the evening.

What to expect:

  • Time to unwind in a warm, creative space with high ceilings
  • Interesting still life arrangements to inspire you
  • Using paper on clipboards you'll choose from a range of materials such as pastels, pens and pencils
  • A series of warm-ups in charcoal, before moving on to extended drawing at your own pace
  • All materials provided for you
  • Mellow beats playing in the background
  • Tasty light refreshments will be served
  • Your drawings to take home

You don't need to be an experienced artist to enjoy this experience: come along and get creative under the expert guidance of your host, Lauren.

Lauren Maria Hill

Lauren Maria Hill is a visual artist from Bristol, working across painting, object and image making.

Lauren has taken part in community-based projects, held participatory exhibitions, and painted at Upfest – Europe's largest street art festival. More recently, she has extended her practice to offer creative workshops and experiences to the public.

Lauren currently hosts Studio sessions: Still life drawing once a month on Wednesday evenings at the beautiful Fresh Dance & Arts Centre in Greenbank, BS5. This is not your average drawing class; the still life arrangements change each week with seasonal themes displayed on handmade wooden plinths. This is an opportunity to momentarily unplug from the world and create something unique.
