Capture Brighton Through Stained Glass

Step inside a hidden Brighton studio and discover the timeless craft of stained glass through a hands-on workshop inspired by colour, light and creativity.

This experience is part of City Uncovered: Brighton, taking place from 1st–14th June 2026 — a limited-time series of unique, under-the-radar experiences designed to help you see the city differently.

Hosted in a welcoming creative studio, this half-day stained glass taster workshop invites you to slow down and learn the traditional techniques behind one of the world’s most beautiful art forms. Guided by an experienced maker, you’ll explore the process of designing, cutting and assembling coloured glass while creating your own small stained glass piece to take home.

As you work with vibrant textures and shifting light, you’ll discover the craftsmanship and patience involved in stained glass making, learning how individual pieces are shaped and joined together using traditional methods. Whether inspired by Brighton’s seaside colours, architectural details or your own abstract ideas, you’ll be encouraged to experiment creatively in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere.

Perfect for complete beginners, the workshop offers a rare chance to step away from screens and reconnect with making something by hand.

Expect glowing colours, mindful creativity and a completely different side of Brighton’s independent arts scene.

Ruth Summer (She/Her)

I am a glass artist (and lover of stone painting) who's been designing and creating bespoke contemporary stained glass commissions since 1998. I love to create glass pieces that are pulled in from the things around me that inspire me in life. I would love to help you create your own glass piece or stone paintings to take home with you at the end of our workshop together.
