Ceramic Slab Building Vase Workshop

This hand-building workshop allows you to make a vase using the slab-building technique.

Slab-building pottery is a versatile and exciting technique that allows you to create unique and intricate pieces. The process involves rolling out even sheets of clay, which are then cut and assembled to form three-dimensional objects. This method offers artists the freedom to experiment with various shapes and designs, resulting in one-of-a-kind pieces.

Slab-building pottery will enable you to express your creativity and produce beautiful, functional vases.

What to expect:

  • When you arrive you will be provided with slabs of pre-rolled clay
  • You will spend the first 10 - 15 minutes sketching out the shape of your vase which will be roughly A5 size
  • Watch a demonstration from experienced potter Rosi, as she teaches you how to turn your sketch into a template for your vase
  • You'll then be free to start cutting out your pieces and assembling your vase
  • Once your piece is complete you can paint and decorate it

After the class, your piece will be left for a week to be bisque-fired, glazed with a glossy transparent glaze and then fired again.

This process takes between 4 - 6 weeks, and you will be messaged when your masterpieces are ready to collect!
