Drawing for Mindfulness with Afternoon Cream Tea

In this experience, you will be enjoying a creative afternoon of drawing exercises, followed by a cream tea, in the beautiful surroundings of John Wesley's New Room, which is a small museum and heritage site based in the heart of Bristol.

With Simon's encouragement, you will be able to try some drawing exercises which encourage calm and mindfulness and add to wellbeing.

A bit more about the artist:

Simon Tozer has a special interest in drawing and sketching his surroundings. Over the last few years he has made many drawings of Bristol, close to his studio in the Old City. Drawing the life of Bristol has become a valued part of his practice, being an activity that briefly creates a quiet space of focus amid the noise and bustle of the city.

  • The nearest car parks are The Galleries and Cabot Circus.
  • Your host is close to bus routes and also has on-site bike racks.
  • The venue is an accessible site with a lift to every floor and gender-neutral toilets.
  • The workshop will start in the Horsefair Room (stairs and lift available).
  • The gallery area of the historic chapel is only available by stairs, with the ground floor accessible to all.
  • If you have any special dietary requirements eg gluten free, please let us know.

John Wesley's New Room is a small and friendly museum in the heart of Bristol. Their experiences offer you a chance to get creative with relaxing crafts, all while meeting new people and learning new skills along the way.

Simon Tozer

Simon studied painting at Portsmouth and printmaking at Chelsea College of Art, where he won the British Institution Fund Award. He remained in London after leaving university and worked as a scenic painter and muralist. He moved to Bristol in 2002. He works as a printmaker, illustrator and teacher of screen printing.
Simon’s work has been included in the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition, the National Open Art Competition and the RWA Autumn Open. His work is held in several public collections.
