Discover Rural Bath Through Sheep Herding

1 hr 15 mins
(49)

Step beyond Bath’s historic streets and uncover the hidden rhythms of life on a working sheep farm.

This experience is part of City Uncovered: Bath, taking place from 1st–14th June 2026 — a limited-time series of unique, under-the-radar experiences designed to help you see the city differently.

Set in the countryside just outside Bath, this hands-on farm experience invites you behind the gates of a real working sheep farm for an afternoon of herding, teamwork and rural discovery.

Hosted by an experienced sheep farmer whose family has worked the land for generations, you’ll begin by meeting the flock and learning how farmers calmly guide and move sheep through the landscape. Then it’s your turn to step into the role of shepherd.

Working together as a team — and without the help of sheepdogs — you’ll learn how to round up the herd and guide them through a series of obstacles, picking up points along the way. Expect plenty of laughter, surprising teamwork and a whole new appreciation for the skill and patience behind everyday farm life.

Alongside the fun and friendly competition, you’ll gain insight into modern farming, spend time surrounded by open countryside and connect with a side of Bath most visitors never get to experience.

Expect muddy boots, fresh air, fuzzy faces and a wholesome day out in the Somerset countryside.
