Get inky, play with shapes and make time to create.
Our minds need creativity. Just like exercise or catching up with a good friend, making art can give us space to switch off, unwind and reconnect with ourselves.
This five-week creative course with Sarah is designed to help you do exactly that. Across five relaxed Friday evening sessions, you’ll experiment with different printmaking techniques, discover your own creative style and, most importantly, enjoy the process of making.
There’s no pressure to create something perfect and no previous experience needed. Instead, Sarah wants to help you build a regular creative habit that you can turn to whenever you need it.
What you'll explore:
Week 1: The art of stencil printing Experiment with shapes, layers and colour using stencil printing techniques.
Week 2: Lino carving and stamp making Learn lino carving techniques and create your own stamp to print with.
Week 3: Gelli plate monoprinting Get playful with colour, texture and pattern using Gelli plates.
Week 4: Block printing on fabric and paper Take your designs onto different surfaces and explore the possibilities of block printing.
Week 5: Creative choice Pick your favourite techniques from the course and spend your final session experimenting, developing ideas and creating something that's completely your own.
Each session begins with a gentle 10-minute drawing exercise to get your creativity flowing. These warm-ups are also a little nudge towards starting – or keeping – a daily sketchbook habit. Bring a sketchbook if you have one, but there’s absolutely no pressure. Just bring yourself and a willingness to have a go.
