Have you had an introduction to pottery but want to practice and hone your skills? This pottery throwing workshop is for improvers that want to drop in and practice what they have learned.
Learning how to throw on the pottery wheel is like learning how to play a musical instrument, the more you practice the better you will get! All tools, materials, white stoneware buff clay and slips are provided and you will have your own wheel to work from.
This workshop is designed for those that have experience on the pottery wheel, are comfortable with self-directed throwing.
Feel free to bring your own materials, but be aware we have clay provided.
If you choose to fire and glaze the work this is not included and will have to inquire about our house glaze or if you would like to bring your own glaze.

Finola Thomas is Ridgeway Studios' founder. After doing a master's in Ceramic Design at Brighton University, Finola now specialises in throwing. Her slick and minimal designs are influenced by industrial structures. Finola's most recent project has been starting a family with husband and co-owner Max. Having become acquainted with ceramics during a Foundation Diploma at the Bristol School of Art and subsequently developing that material relationship through a voluntary role with local practitioners, Lucy landed on the Ceramics BA Hons course at Cardiff School of Art and Design in 2018.
During her time in Cardiff she focused on the production of reduction fired stoneware, the development of glaze from self-sourced materials and the interrogation of what constitutes "sustainable" practice - where do our conceptions of what is and what is not sustainable come from?
Lucy is an talented thrower, a gifted communicator and experienced instructor.
