Pottery Taster Session: Wheel Throwing

Enjoyed pottery painting? Why not challenge yourself further? Join Pavlov Ceramics in Birmingham’s Jewellery Quarter for a hands-on workshop that will teach you how to throw a piece on the potter’s wheel.

In the first part of the workshop, you will delve into some essential theory while learning how to prepare the clay. After a detailed demonstration, you will then have the opportunity to craft your own unique pots!

What to expect:

• 2-hour workshop on the potter's wheel
• All tools and materials will be provided
• The glazing and firing of your best piece is included
• A serene studio in Birmingham's historic Jewellery Quarter
• Small groups of up to 6 people, so you’ll receive plenty of help and guidance
• Suitable for beginners over 8 years of age (minors need to be accompanied by a responsible adult)

Pottery making can get messy, so it’s recommended that you trim long nails and tie back long hair to ensure nothing gets in the way of your creative expression. Towards the end of the session, you’ll have the chance to select your favourite piece for glazing and firing, a process that typically takes around 8 weeks. Additional pots can be fired at a charge of £10 each.
