Introduction to Paper-cutting workshop

Your wonderful host Sarah will guide you through this creative and therapeutic experience. Sharing her knowledge on this centuries-old and ever-evolving art form.

Sarah will show you all the top techniques and tips you need to know, before embarking on your own artistic journey. Learn how to feel confident using a craft knife and about the types of paper which are perfect for this art form.

You will be given the skills and knowledge to start creating art and illustration in paper. Starting by mastering how to create silhouette based designs, you will then be introduced to collage based techniques adding colour and layers with paper. You will Learn how to create depth and dimension to your paper artwork. This workshop is ideal for beginners or experienced artist wanting to experiment with these techniques. Sarah will come with templates to work from or give you guidance on creating your own design.

Sarah Dennis

Sarah Dennis is a Bristol-based artist and illustrator who combines traditional paper-cutting techniques with collage. Sarah is the author of a selection of beautifully illustrated books, including Papercut Wilderness and Paper Plants. She is passionate about sharing her knowledge and love for paper-cutting at workshops throughout the UK. Nothing makes Sarah happier than seeing others engaged in this art form and working up some magic with a craft knife.

Sarah has worked with a range of clients including, BBC Four, Tatler, The Guardian and Gosh Arts. Sarah has also illustrated and authored a selection of books, including Papercut Woodland and Paper Plants published by Carlton Books.

Sarah loves to share her craft, teaching workshops throughout the UK. Paper cutting is creative and therapeutic, focusing the mind and steadying the hand while bringing about a serene sense of achievement. Sarah loves to see others find the same level of joy in the craft as she does.
