Join Ros your friendly and experienced host for a Nordic walking experience in one of the most beautiful places in Bristol - Ashton Court Estate.
With over 850 acres of trail, woodland and grassland Ashton Court has some of the best views over the city, a 600-year-old deer park, golf courses, a cafe with delicious snacks and gorgeous gardens with over 160 species of roses. It's the ideal place for a mini adventure!
If you're new to Nordic walking you'll be shown the basic technique before we head off and you'll be able to practise your new skill while you enjoy your stunning surroundings. Poles will be provided so just make sure you wear comfy shoes with a good tread and you're dressed for the weather. All fitness levels are welcome and we will go at a pace that suits you. Ashton Court does have some small hills.
We'll wind our way around the estate and through the deer park which is home to stunning red and fallow deer. The variety of woodland, trails and wildlife are among the best Bristol has to offer. The far reaching views over Bristol are breathtaking, it's magical to hear the skylarks singing overhead and in April and May you'll find carpets of scented bluebells under magnificent old oak trees.
Much of the Ashton Court Estate is designated as a Site of Special Scientific Interest and the plateau area is home to an important population of green-winged orchids, as well as hundreds of common spotted orchids.
(NB Sometimes the deer park closes for a short period over rutting season and when the mothers have young fawns.)
We'll finish our Nordic walk near the cafe so if you fancy you can have some well-earned tea and cake. Or if you're feeling decadent you can visit the Ashton pub with its easy-going rustic setting, open fire and beer garden.
This experience will make your soul sing and in addition you're learning a new skill that you can enjoy for the rest of your life.
Group requirements: a minimum of 2 people and a maximum of 6.
Please note, if you book for under 6 people others will still have the chance to book onto that walk as well. But the more the merrier!
Minimum fitness level required.
