Summer Printmaking at Clifton Suspension Bridge

Get creative in this unique printmaking workshop near the captivating Clifton Suspension Bridge! Immerse yourself in the bridge's beauty, the Gorge's geology, and the local flora and fauna, and create your own prints to take home after the workshop.

Led by talented printmaker and teacher Kate, the event will start with an informative talk on seasonal wildlife from a member of the Clifton Suspension Bridge Trust. You will then take a scenic bridge walk, enjoying the incredible views and noticing the nature around you. This will fuel your inspiration before you get printing!

  • Choose your own design, inspired by the Suspension Bridge and Avon Gorge
  • All materials will be provided including a range of different ink colours
  • Refreshments are available at the on-site Learning Annexe café or you are welcome to bring your own

Kate will be teaching different techniques depending on the date, so please choose your workshop accordingly

Drypoint Printing | July 8th, Oct 7th

If you enjoy drawing, then you will love the meditative process of drypoint printing; etching a design onto a Tetrapak printing plate before inking up and printing on a Gunning traditional print press.

Relief Printing | July 9th, Oct 8th

Perfect for families. This print method involves creating a printing plate design that has raised areas that will hold the ink. This can be made using foam board (for little fingers) or using lino printing plates and cutters if you're confident enough to use a sharp blade. You will then ink up your relief plate with a roller and print designs using a Woodzilla printing press.
