What you'll do

Trylla brings you a brand new way of working on your projects, at their daytime co-working space!

Imagine hot desking - like in an office - but it's for pottery instead. You will have two hours to hand build whatever you like using our materials, tools and desk space. Maybe you might work on a few different projects over a couple of sessions, or perhaps you just have one project in mind that you want to make.

Mud Club is not a taught lesson - you will need to have prior experience of working with clay, as you will be left to your own devices. However, you will have access to a resident potter during your session, should you have any burning questions.

The ceramics studio is on the ground floor of Trylla, on North Street. It has a desk space for you to use, all the tools and equipment you will need to make great pots, as well as all of the glaze colours you can imagine. You will also have access to our pottery wheels to get throwing! Use as much or as little of the materials as you like in the two hours you have!

You can pick from a selection of: ice white, terracotta or peach grog clay to use to make your work. When you are ready to decorate, you will have access to a huge selection of underglaze paints, jazzy speciality glazes, coloured slips and transparent topcoats to decorate your work. Fancy!

Whatever you create and wish to fire during your experience will be left with your host at the studio and fired once it has completely dried out. Happy potting!

About Trylla

Trylla was created as a playful environment for people to experiment with ceramics and other crafts. It's run by Alice, Trylla's resident pottery nerd. Her goal with Trylla is to make ceramics more accessible to all budding potters in Bristol. It’s an emporium of weirdness, with walls covered in oddities in every colour you could imagine. Trylla has regular pottery experiences from wheel making to hand building, with a rainbow of glaze colours available. It also has a shop selling ceramics supplies and a range of handmade products from local makers.

Your hosts

Rebecca 0

After being an apprentice at two other pottery studios in Bristol previously Trylla managed to get Rebecca to come work for us here at Trylla. She's an all round creative withe a special place in her heart for pottery. She acts as our studio hand helping us with the day to day of clay work.

Alice A

Your host is Alice, Trylla’s resident pottery nerd. She's been creating ceramics for 10 years now and has as much love and enthusiasm for it as when she started out. She opened Trylla 4 years ago after working in many different other studios over the years. She serves as Trylla's head technician and teacher.
Alice welcomes any questions you have during classes and is always happy to chat clay with you outside of class too!

Trylla Resident Artist

Trylla runs our co-working space by using our resident Potters to help out. Each Potter will have a speciality, and so they may not know an answer to all of your burning questions, but nthey will definitely have a base knowledge of working with clay.

If you would like to make use of our head technician Alice, and her experienced input please be sure to attend on a Tuesday.

What people are saying

Had a lovely time working on my clay projects - I was pleased with the access to variety of tools and glazes and felt comfortable during the 2-hour session. Would love to come back for another session as it was a great opportunity to sit down and focus.
