Mother's Day Pottery Special : Stencilled Mug

Mother’s Day Pottery Special: Slab-Built Mugs with Slip Stencilling

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a creative, hands-on pottery workshop in Bristol, perfect for beginners and clay-lovers alike. In this relaxed and friendly session, you’ll learn the fundamentals of slab-building pottery and create your own beautiful, functional mug that’s made to hold plenty of tea (or coffee!).

You’ll start by rolling and cutting clay slabs, then learn how to build a three-dimensional mug from scratch. We’ll guide you through making and attaching a handle, using the classic slip and score technique to securely join all the pieces together. With plenty of tips along the way, you’ll achieve a smooth, crisp finish that feels great in your hands.

Once your mug is built and refined, we’ll move on to decoration using a paper slip-stencilling technique. This unique and accessible method uses paper resists to create clean, delicate designs—no steady hand required. Simply brush over a selection of our beautifully coloured slips to create a background, then peel away the paper to reveal a professional-looking design underneath.

After the workshop, your mug will be left with us to be fired and glazed. Finished pieces will be ready for collection approximately four weeks later, ready to be cherished and enjoyed for years to come.

This pottery workshop is a lovely way to spend quality time with your mum—whether you choose to gift your mug, swap creations, or keep them as a shared souvenir of the day. And while it takes place on Mother’s Day, it’s absolutely not just for mums. It’s also a wonderful workshop to attend with friends, family, or even solo if you fancy some creative time for yourself.

As a bonus, all ticket holders receive 10% off at the bar all day—perfect for extending the celebration after getting your hands muddy.

If you’re looking for Bristol craft workshops for Mother’s Day, this pottery session offers the perfect mix of creativity, connection, and something truly handmade to take home. 💐✨
