Mother's Day Pottery Special: Ceramic Candle Pots

Celebrate Mother’s Day with a cosy and creative pottery candlepot -making workshop in Bristol, perfect for beginners and anyone who loves making something beautiful by hand. In this relaxed, welcoming session, you’ll design and create your own ceramic candle pot that will later be filled with a floral-scented soy wax candle.

You’ll begin by learning the pinch pot technique, one of the most intuitive and satisfying hand-building pottery methods. Using your hands, you’ll gently shape and refine your clay into a smooth candle vessel before adding your own unique flair. Choose to incorporate soft curves, playful roundness, textured surfaces, or a delicate fluted or frilled rim to give your pot character and charm.

Once your form is complete, you’ll have the chance to decorate your candle pot with three-dimensional clay details such as little flowers, hearts, or other embellishments. To finish, you’ll add colour using our selection of beautifully coloured ceramic slips, applied on the day to enhance vibrancy and bring your design to life.

At the end of the workshop, your candle pot will return to our studio with us to be fired and glazed. Once complete, each piece will be carefully filled with a floral-scented soy wax candle, ready for you to enjoy. Finished candles will be available for collection approximately four weeks later, making them a lasting keepsake of the day.

This workshop is a lovely way to spend quality time with your mum—whether you’re gifting your candle, swapping creations, or making one each as a shared souvenir. And while the session takes place on Mother’s Day, it’s not just for mums. It’s also a perfect activity to enjoy with friends, family, or even solo if you fancy a calm and creative afternoon.

As a little extra treat, all ticket holders receive 10% off at the bar all day, so you can continue the celebration after the workshop.

If you’re searching for Bristol craft workshops for Mother’s Day, this candle pottery session is a beautiful way to slow down, get creative, and take home something handmade that will be enjoyed long after the day itself.
