Mini Retreat of Yoga and Hypnotherapy (clients)

Join your hosts Jude and Simon from Be Retreats, for a beautiful mini-retreat. Make time for yourself this New Year, and prioritise rest and relaxation after the busy festive period.

Retreat schedule:

First half

  • The retreat will begin with a meditation practice featuring yoga aromatherapy oils*
  • You’ll then enjoy a Hatha yoga session for 20 minutes, which is designed to be all inclusive, with options and adaptations given throughout.
  • Transitioning into 30 minutes of restorative yoga, you’ll arrive in a deep relaxation. This gentle form of yoga features nurturing poses that are held for around 5 minutes each. Lay back and switch off, as you’re supported by bolsters, blankets, and relaxing eye cushions.
  • The first part of the retreat will end with a hypnotherapy session, designed to complement the yoga practice. It will comprise of a full body and mind relaxation exercise where Simon will induce a peaceful and deep sense of tranquillity and relaxation. The session will last approx. 35 minutes.

Second half

  • After stopping for a comfort break, the second half of the retreat will begin with a Yin yoga practice. Starting with a relaxing breathwork exercise, the yin practice will last around 50 minutes and there will also be an affirmation for each asana for you to reflect on.
  • The session ends in the relaxing Savasana pose (simply described as lying down on your back with blankets and eye pillows), and you’ll seamlessly transition into a therapeutic hypnotherapy session.
  • The second hypnotherapy session will be an even deeper trance experience, with the emphasis on taking you to a place of safety and comfort. We’ll be focusing on seeing your real self and feeling as positive as you can be. You’ll leave the retreat feeling fully refreshed and ready for anything the world can throw at you.

*if you have an allergy or intolerance to any essential oils please let us know and we will source an alternative

We will both take tests on the morning to make sure we are Covid free, and request all attendees do the same.

On the day

  • Please arrive before 12.30pm so we can make a prompt start.
  • Apart from your own comfortable sportswear, we provide everything else for your experience.

Founded by friends Jude (a yoga teacher and hypnotherapist) and Simon (a fellow hypnotherapist) Be Retreats host soul-refreshing mini retreats in Bristol and Bath. Their mission is to provide a holistic experience with retreats in carefully chosen spaces that are beautifully simple and honest. Join one of their retreats, and you’ll leave feeling refreshed, re-energised and at one with yourself.

Simon Stansfield (He/Him)

After a career in magazine publishing, Simon realised a long held ambition to train as a hypnotherapist, where he studied alongside Jude and he now runs a private practice from rooms in Queen Square in the centre of Bristol. A practicing Buddhist, Simon holds firm to the maxim that we are the master of our own mind and we should not allow the mind to master us; that we are responsible as individuals for raising our own life state. In hypnotherapy, by speaking to our subconscious mind we can re-programme how we think to encourage more positive responses to situations and emotions. Simon uses hypnotherapy techniques both in his private practice and in Be Retreats to help people reframe their view of themselves in positive ways, either to change habits, boost self-esteem, alleviate stress and anxiety or to improve performance in sports and public speaking.

Jude Starkey (She/Her)

Jude is a yoga teacher and hypnotherapist. Before entering the world of wellness, she was a dentist for 24 years and she has also been a secondary school governor for a long time- she is currently the Vice-Chair at St Gregory’s in Bath.

Her greatest passions lie in caring for others, being creative and being immersed in natural surroundings. She has practised yoga for many years and eventually fulfilled a long-held desire to take it further and share her passion. She trained to become a teacher at Bristol School of Yoga, teaching restorative, yin and vinyasa - she often combines styles within her sessions.

Jude qualified as a hypnotherapist with Simon, together they are in training in Bristol to become counsellors. This is something really special for Jude, being able to listen and support others during difficult times is something she feels very drawn to.
