Make Your Own Cymbal

3 hrs
(22)

Whether you're a drummer or know someone who is, a cymbal made with your own hands is a fantastic addition to any drumkit!

Dave Collingwood is not only Bristol's only artisan cymbal maker, he’s one of only two cymbalsmiths in the UK.

In this 3-hour workshop, you will learn how to create a 16" crash cymbal out of bronze from scratch.

You will use learn how to use traditional hand-hammering techniques to stretch and manipulate a piece of bronze into a finished cymbal.

Once hammered into shape, Dave will show you how to use his purpose-built cymbal lathe to remove the bronze 'crust' and reveal the beautiful sounding, shiny-looking metal underneath.

What to expect:

  • A relaxed environment as you get to grips with some of the theory behind cymbal making
  • Hands-on practise at hammering and lathing
  • Everything you need will be provided, including all the safety equipment
  • Breaks for complimentary tea and coffee!

Leave with your own handmade cymbal, which you can use with pride!

Age restrictions: 18+
