Make Sew Bold: Customise a Reticule Workshop

During the Jane Austen Festival 2026, we will welcome you to customise a reticule with us (a Regency-era handbag) to complement your favourite Regency gown or the Jane Austen theme of the day!

Choose from our selection of beautiful, handmade reticules and make it your own using our quality, sustainably-sourced fabrics and our fabulous vintage haberdashery bar.

No previous sewing experience is needed - this is an activity suitable for all ages and abilities. Your tutors will share inspiration, tips and decorative techniques.

On the day

Please arrive no more than 5 mins before the start of the event. You are welcome to come in your Regency finest but there is no dress code and you are welcome to come in whatever you please. There is no parking at the venue but the workshop is in central Bath and there are many car parks within walking distance.

Can't make it? We understand things happen! You can cancel and get a full refund up to 30 days before your experience.
Please note that this refund policy does not apply to gift bookings. You may reschedule your gift if outside the time period stated above. Please note that Yuup gift cards are valid for redemption for 12 months, and if not redeemed by this date, you will get a Yuup credit added to your Yuup account equivalent to the unspent value of the Yuup gift card less a Yuup administration fee of 20%.

Fran Forsyth (She/Her)

Fran is passionate about sustainable textiles and has training in sewing, upholstery and zero waste fashion. Following a successful career in law, she combines her love of making with promoting the changes needed to tackle waste in the textiles industry.

Jan Periton Dunning (She/Her)

Jan is a qualified Art and D&T specialist with more than ten years' experience teaching in schools and galleries. Prior to this, she worked in the fashion industry. A life-long maker, she's also a photographer and published author.
