Make your own wire and bead sculptures to share as unique gifts or decorate your home. You’ll be creating on the cosy (covered and heated) deck of a vintage Caribbean Cruiser boat in Portishead marina, away from the hustle and bustle.
Your host will be Barbara; an award winning local artist and sculptor. Barbara will have everything you need including inspiration, wire, beads and tools. She’ll help you create your own wire sculptures with a range of flexible coloured wires to work with. There will be examples available to work from (dragonflies and birds are always a favourirte!) and you can of course come with your own ideas, or just get inspiration from exploring the materials. You have the option to make a hanging sculpture mobile or a standing wire piece to take home with you.
Enjoy a warm mulled wine as you discover your creative side and have a relaxing sculpture session whilst floating in the beautiful Portishead marina.
Barbara is an artist and tutor that enjoys hosting hands-on, creative art workshops in Bristol and Portishead marina. In fact, she's been making art since she was a child and it's always been a huge part of her life. Barbara studied fine art and completed a masters in sculpture and has been exhibiting, creating projects and commissions ever since. She had a studio at Spike Island and then spent 10 years in Bangalore working in different parts of India, before returning to Bristol to live on a boat in Portishead. As well as being a part time tutor at Bristol School of Art and the Folk House, Barbara is now happy to be launching art workshops on her boat, exploring a range of creative making experiences.View more experiences by Bristol Art Workshops
