Design and create your own earrings using reticulation and texturing techniques, with your silversmith host, Charlotte. As The Silver Duck, Charlotte forges and creates a range of silver work and jewellery - and in this private half day experience you'll get to discover silversmithing techniques and try them yourself. Charlotte has been teaching and hosting workshops since 2013.
You'll be able to create shapes by using a piercing saw to cut out your design and will have the option to add texture using hammers and stamps. Charlotte will work with you to choose the right tools to make your design and you'll be able to try techniques like doming, forming to make 3D forms and soldering.
All the silver used is included and at the end of your experience you'll have a finished set of bespoke earrings to be proud of.
This is a private experience and you'll have your own fully sanitised workspace. You can bring along a mask to wear if you'd like to
For Charlotte, it all started when she was given a wire jewellery making kit as a gift. She was already interested in art and design but after creating those jewellery pieces she decided to study for her degree in silversmithing, metalwork and jewellery. Charlotte now makes her work out of her Old Market Manor studio, a space she shares with other creatives from jewellery makers to woodworkers. She's passionate about sharing her craft and giving people a glimpse of the techniques and the time it takes to work with silver. Charlotte’s aim with all her experiences is to allow people to be creative, have fun and go away with a piece they’ll be proud of.View more experiences by The Silver Duck
Your host will be Charlotte, the maker behind The Silver Duck. Charlotte will guide you through the process of making your piece. Along the way she’ll be sharing techniques, inspiration and tips but always encourages people to embrace their creative side with both their design and tools. You’ll go away with your own personal piece of silver work to keep or give as a unique, one-off gift.
