Mad Potters Tea Party: Make A Quirky Teapot!

Can we tempt you with a day of playful pottery with a tantalising twist? We thought so…

With a name like the Mad Potters Tea Party - who could resist!

Are you curious (and curiouser!) about the art of making a teapot out of clay? Settle into the best Sunday ever with The Pot Heads to find out more.

In this relaxing full-day workshop, you will learn a variety of hand building techniques to create your very own decorative ‘Tea Pot Head!’. It’s going to be quirky, cute and charming all rolled into one.

You’ll be greeted with a selection of delicious teas and scrumptious cakes before you begin designing your teapot characters. Roll up your sleeves and get stuck in with sculpting, slowly bringing your designs to life in clay form. Creative play is encouraged as Tasha guides you along the way.

There will be a lunch break which will give your teapot shapes a chance to dry before the second half of the workshop. This is when your pieces will really take shape as you add the exciting additions like handles, spouts, lids and any whistles and bells you choose!

The Pot Heads are on a mission to make creative play accessible to everyone. They’re encouraging people to give pottery a whirl and enjoy the therapeutic qualities of clay. Tasha welcomes mad potters of all abilities, but if you’re a beginner she advises having a go at one of her ‘Clay & Play’ sessions before making your dashing teapot. This will be held in a small group, so you’ll have access to plenty of guidance and support.

Once you have finished creating your teapot, take it away with you, along with a set of paints to decorate it with once it's dried. Alternatively, leave it with Tasha and collect it at a later date. As you’ll be using air-drying clay, your teapot will be purely decorative. This means you can make the design as extra and ridiculous as you desire. Go on, we dare you…

Use your fabulous new creation as a storage pot, dried flower vase, plant pot or simply as a treasured ornament. Sounds to us like an absolute dream.

The session will take place at Pot Head HQ, a colourful creative hub in the heart of St Werburghs. If you want to book this experience as a private event, Tasha can travel to your group at a destination of your choice in her ‘Portable Pottery Studio’ - Daphne the flower power van! This is the perfect activity for a crafty celebration - an unbirthday party perhaps!? Just get in touch via the messenger box below to enquire.
