Join Michelin-starred Bristol chef, Josh Eggleton, for an intimate Bristol food tour and tasting. This is a chance to taste your way from North Street to Wapping Wharf, discovering more about Bristol’s unique food scene and enjoying specially made dishes with Josh Eggleton, owner of the award-winning Pony & Trap.
Josh will take you on a journey from the Bristol Beer Factory on North Street to Wapping Wharf, taking in some of his favourite local spots along the way including Mark’s Bread, Rare Butchers, Spike Island Cafe and the Bristol Cheesemonger. You’ll finish up at Josh’s own restaurants, Root and Salt & Malt, to sit down and taste some specially prepared dishes.
Have a tour of the taproom at Bristol Beer Factory, see behind the scenes at Rare Butchers, and taste some of the delights of Mark’s Bread whilst talking to their head baker. At Root, you’ll meet head chef Rob, who’ll reveal more about the restaurant’s unique flavours and prepare some small plates for you to enjoy alongside one of their organic wines. It’s then on to Salt & Malt to enjoy some English sparkling wine with small plates of fish and seafood, including oysters personally prepared for you by Josh. To finish, you’ll enjoy a cheese tasting at the Bristol Cheesemonger, sampling some of the region's best cheeses and discovering more about their flavours and provenance.
This one-off experience is a Bristol food-lover’s dream, with a host of flavours to taste and surprise treats along the way. With four dates and space for just five people on each, it will make an unforgettable experience and a perfect gift.
You'll meet outside the Bristol Beer Factory on North Street. You'll be walking to Wapping Wharf so please make sure you dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes.
Josh Eggleton is a Michelin-starred chef with his roots firmly in the West Country. After refining his craft and working in world renowned restaurants including The French Laundry and Chanterelle, he returned to Bristol to set up his own business. Beginning in 2005 with The Pony & Trap, the Eggleton group has now grown to include a wide array of places to eat and drink across Bristol and Somerset, including The Kensington Arms, Yurt Lush, Salt & Malt and Root. As a chef, Josh champions working with local, seasonal produce and through ventures like Eat Drink Bristol Fashion has explored sustainable food and showcased the best of Bristol’s restaurant scene. Through the School of Food Josh has aimed to nurture a passion for cooking in the young chefs and restaurateurs of the future, and more recently with new venture, The Food Union, has provided food parcels for a number of vulnerable groups across Bristol, and quality meals for key workers.
Josh will be your host for this experience. As you explore he’ll be sharing more about the flavours you try, the Bristol food scene, using local ingredients and more. This experience is limited to just five people, meaning you’ll get the chance to ask your own food and flavour questions as you visit each delicious place on your journey - hearing from both the food experts you meet along the way, and Josh himself.
