Lino printing - Seascapes & Nautical

Immerse yourself into the playful world of lino printing in this fun masterclass. This versatile style of relief printing is made for beginners. Bristol Print Collective's Victoria Willmott will be taking you under her wing. This experienced maker will show you how to create bold, striking and powerful prints synonymous with this style.

Discover how to design a linocut block, develop your own design and produce unique limited edition prints. Victoria will cover the basics of designing your print, carving, shading, getting familiar with your tools, and everything you need to take your lino prints to the next level.

Feel free to bring along nautical inspired sketches or design ideas for inspiration however templates are provided to make it enjoyable and easy to learn on the night. Think boats, waves, whales and all sea themed imagery.

This masterclass will be held in a spacious room at The Chocolate Factory in Centrespace Studios - home to over 30 artist studios in Bristol's Old City. You'll almost feel the creativity bouncing off the walls. Plenty of tea and biscuits will be provided, otherwise known as the printmaker's fuel!

  • Participants will have their own table to maintain distanced between others. Your tutor will take a lateral flow test prior to the workshop
  • Your host welcomes participants to wear a mask and use hand gel on entering the building

On the day

  • To find this location follow the signs to Centrespace Studios & Gallery down Leonard Lane (narrow pathway situated between Corn Street and Small Street). Ring the buzzer outside the studio entrance doors to be let inside
  • This location is easy to walk to from the city centre. Bicycle parking is available inside the building. Public transport is available from the centre

Bristol Print Collective

Bristol Print Collective is run by Jemma Gunning and Victoria Willmott - two self-confessed print nerds with a passion for sharing their love of printmaking with whoever wants to discover more about it! The ethos behind Bristol Print Collective is to teach DIY printmaking to enable participants to carry on with printmaking at home. The pair can be found popping up in locations all over south-west England, armed with ink and tools like pasta machines to share the wonders of low tech printmaking.

Victoria Willmott

Artist printmaker based in Bristol specialising in Lino Cut Prints. Victoria has been delivering printmaking and arts workshops for over seven years in art galleries, universities and schools.
