Wafaa was born in Lebanon and has combined her love of food and belly dancing to create her unique business, Dancing Flavours. Food is key to hospitality in Lebanon and it’s unheard of for anyone to visit a Lebanese family without been offered something to eat; that could be a full meal or snacks like fruit and nuts, and don't forget the famous coffee. Wafaa's inspiration for cookery comes the tasty food she grew up eating and learning how to prepare with her mum, whose family recipes are traditional, simple and tasty.
Growing up, Wafaa never thought that belly dancing could be a business, but nothing equalled the pleasure she got when she danced so she has now combined it with her love of food, to create a unique business.
View more experiences by Dancing FlavoursWafaa is the youngest of 7 children and was born in Lebanon, where she lived until she married her English husband in the 1990s. Wafaa's inspiration for cookery comes from her mum, who found the best way to show her love was through food. The recipes have been passed down through generations and so are the ones Wafaa grew up eating and learning how to prepare. Wafaa believes eating should be a pleasure as much as a necessity and that the relationship between people and food defines the culture of a place.
Belly dancing is also a big part of Wafaa's life. She grew up with it, dancing at home, with friends, at weddings and at parties, and while studying at university she attended belly dance courses in Lebanon to improve her skills. People are at the heart of everything that Wafaa does and she is passionate about sharing her love of belly dancing and Lebanese cuisine.
