Learn to rollerskate with Alice in Rollerland

What you'll do

Have you got a pair of skates but no idea what to do with them? Whether you want to be a roller-disco star, pick up a new skill or simply have fun with friends, this one and a half hour workshop is the perfect place to start.

Your host Alice will start from the very beginning, getting you warmed up before showing you the correct way to lace up your skates and gracefully get to your feet. Once you’re comfortable and stable in a standing position, you’ll move on to learning the correct posture and importantly… how to fall safely and how to stop! The studio’s sprung floor will help cushion the inevitable early tumbles but please bring protective gear and a helmet.

With the basics down, your confidence will grow and your balance will quickly improve. You'll then be able to put all this new knowledge into practice as you skate around the spacious studio, learning good habits and techniques that will set you up for your future skating endeavours.

Alice will also take the time to talk you through the maintenance and upkeep that your skates need. Learning to adjust your skates is crucial to progress, so Alice will bring her t-tool to loosen or tighten your trucks to suit you.

By the end of the experience, you’ll have also covered gliding, turning and the basics of backward skating and will be ready to carry on practising on your own.

Minimum fitness level required.

Your host

Alice Vosper

Alice started skating in August 2020 and totally fell in love with this free, disco-friendly sport. She’s excited to share her passion and bring more people into the wonderful skating community. She knows firsthand how difficult it can be to wobble through at the start so she’s ready to support other budding skaters to realise their own roller disco dreams!

How to get there

What people are saying

Had a great time, Alice was an amazing instructor and put you at ease straight away, it was good fun and even came away able to do a trick 😊, and loads of useful tips for learning to skate, would love to do another workshop. Location was really good with plenty of room and excellent skate surface and booking was easy. Thanks for a brilliant experience.

Rachel Walters, Jun 2021
