Learn to knit colourwork in three weeks

What you'll do

Colourwork is the vivid kind of magic that happens when you use two strands of yarn at the same time to create bright, multi-tonal knitted designs.

If you want to learn how to knit colourwork, but are intimidated by the thought, this three-part course is for you. Learn everything you need to know so you can take on stranded knitting with a classic Fair Isle patterned hat.

This course is suitable for advanced beginners and intermediate knitters who want to try something new. By the end, you'll have learnt all the skills you need to take on bigger colourwork projects, like a classic yoked sweater.

Over the course of three workshops you will:

  • Begin with the basics: how to read a pattern, pick your yarns and choose the right colours
  • Work through casting on and working with floats
  • Discover how to keep even tension and shape your hat
  • Brush up on blocking and finishing

The hat comes in three sizes and was designed by Jacki, who's leading the class. So if you've got any questions, you can be sure she'll be able to answer them.

With plenty of tea and snacks on hand, you'll be well fuelled and full of inspiration.

Dates for the early June workshop series are: - 7 June - 21 June - 5 July

Dates for the late June workshop series: - 28 June - 12 July - 28 July

Dates for the September workshop series: - 22 September - 6 October - 20 October
