About Jemma Gunning

Jemma is a fine art printmaker specialising in etching and lithography and has been sharing her passion for printmaking for nearly 10 years. It was 5 years ago that she co-founded Bristol Print Collective, a creative group that aims to share their skills with as many people as possible. They use DIY processes to demystify printmaking processes, sharing all the diverse wonders of the printed mark - and techniques that can be continued at home. Jemma runs her own printmaking studio at Estate of the arts which is set up for intaglio and lithographic printmaking processes. The experiences she offers through Yuup are unique, private printmaking workshops that will give people a chance to discover the magical historic processes to help them begin their printmaking journey or to help printmakers develop their skills.
The processes Jemma shares include drypoint, hardground etching, softground etching, sugar lift, aquatint, spitbite, monoprinting and relief (lino).

Jemma Gunning

Jemma specialises in intaglio and lithographic processes that are rooted in drawing. She has been working in the realms of printmaking since falling in love with the printed mark on her BA in drawing many moons ago. Jemma is a documentary printmaker recording our fading heritage. Her practice captures derelict spaces that are in a state of flux, highlighting the beauty often found in decay, and she has been teaching printmaking for nearly 10 years. In 2015 she co-founded Bristol Print Collective, a group of printmakers that pop up across the South West sharing their skills and passion with diverse communities. In 2020 she co-established Bristol Print Atelier, a place to teach traditional printmaking processes to keep historic techniques alive. Jemma also works part time as a Lithography technical instructor at UWE.
