Kingsweston House Walk

What you'll do

Kingsweston House's grand 18th-century property certainly turns a few heads. After all, it's designed by Sir John Vanbrugh behind Blenheim Palace. While its grandeur and stunning woodlands feel very regal, this walking group couldn't be a more down-to-earth bunch!

Enjoy a short easy stroll around Kingsweston House and woodlands with Bristol Steppin Sistas. This inclusive walking group is putting diversity, wellbeing and reconnecting nature in the spotlight. Your route isn't just steeped in history but beautiful sights too. Kingweston House grounds cover 300 acres of historic buildings, grand panoramas, fields, woodland and lawns. Landmark The Echo was designed in 1722, this garden feature provides an elevated position where you can admire a spectacular view of the house. (If you sing loud enough it might echo around the house too!)

Whether you bring along a packed lunch or pick up food from the cafe, you'll be spoiled by the scenery. Meet some great women, discover a new part of Bristol and enjoy the endorphin-boosting power of getting outdoors. If you ask us, that's one seriously good combo.

About Bristol Steppin Sistas

Bristol Steppin Sistas is a community that empowers women, creating safe places for them to walk while grounding their mental and physical wellbeing. The outdoors is great for clearing the mind and enjoying good times - this is what this community is all about.

This walking group welcomes everyone regardless of their culture or race. Bristol Steppin Sistas acknowledge there's been a reluctance for women of colour to venture into unfamiliar spaces where they might feel exposed, judged or vulnerable. This walking group aims to motivate women of colour to visit rural areas around Bristol they haven't seen before and step across these boundaries in the safety and company of others who share similar experiences. Join this inclusive community celebrating Mother Nature and sisterhood around the South West's most stunning locations.

Your host

Sophie Brown

Sophie is the founder of Bristol Stepping Sistas and your qualified walk leader. Growing up in the countryside, Sophie always enjoyed exploring rural areas and found spending time in nature healing. But she recognised lots of women of colour are held back from doing the same - they might feel unsafe, judged or exposed in these unknown environments. Sophie was inspired to create safe walks where women of colour felt comfortable - Bristol Stepping Sistas was born. This growing sisterhood champions exercise, fresh air and nature with an encouraging support network at its core.
