Jewellery Recycling & Repair Day

Do you have old pieces of gold or silver jewellery that you just never wear? Perhaps you've inherited something and want to make it more your style?

A fun-filled day with Silver & Steel will show you how to transform your special pieces into something wearable and new!

What you can learn in this workshop:

  • Smelting: how to use a blow torch and gas canister to melt jewellery down
  • Re-forming: using a rolling mill and studio equipment to re-shape your pieces
  • Basic stone setting
  • Small jewellery repairs

For this course, the host will get in touch beforehand to check what you are thinking of bringing so that they can prepare the right materials and make the session as smooth and satisfying as possible.

Savoury and sweet vegan refreshments will be provided.

Bethany is the silversmith behind both Silver & Steel and her personal jewellery brand Bethany May Silver. Down to earth and welcoming Bethany loves sharing her passion for jewellery making with makers of all levels. Having learnt from Alice Goldsack, herself a student of the prominent Diana Porter, Bethany cares deeply about the silversmithing culture and community in Bristol. After years of creating her own work, Bethany developed engaging workshops for beginner jewellers and has taught people of all ages and abilities. Bethany is an experienced creative workshop teacher, educator and trainer who will ensure the experience is fun, memorable and participants leave feeling empowered.
