Yuup | Introduction to Pottery Throwing: 4 Week Course

Dive into the world of ceramics with this 4-week introductory course to throwing pottery!

Throwing shapes with clay on a pottery wheel has been used by potters for centuries. Over this 4-week course, you will learn all the basics and have plenty of practice in using the pottery wheel to create your own finished pieces.

Your host for this course is Trevor Lillistone, a professional potter with over 30 years of experience. He will be giving you plenty of one-to-one help and guidance to get you going on your pottery journey!

Over the course of 4 x 1.5 hour sessions, you will cover:

Week 1: Introduction, basic techniques and throwing cylinders.
Week 2: How to throw bowls.
Week 3: How to finish your work as well as turning and adding handles.
Week 4: How to glaze your pieces.

This introductory course is perfect for any budding potters looking to develop their skills!

The course consists of a total of 6 hours of tuition spread over 4 weeks

You will finish the course with around 5 to 10 finished pieces. These will then be glazed and ready to collect around 4 weeks after the course is finished.

On the day

Your host will meet you at the main entrance to Bath Artists' Studios.
All tools and materials will be provided.
Aprons will also be provided, but please wear clothes and shoes you don't mind getting a bit messy!
There is no parking at the venue, but there is 2-hours free parking on Upper Bristol Road. The nearest car park is the NCP on Charlotte Street.

Trevor Lillistone Ceramics is a pottery studio found in Bath Artists' Studios. With over 20 years of experience making and teaching ceramics, this pottery studio offers pottery classes to introduce you to the wonderful world of ceramics in one-to-one or small group settings.

Trevor Lillistone (He/Him)

Trevor is a former architect turned full-time studio potter. His studio is based in Bath and he has over 20 years of experience producing hand-thrown tableware and decorative work in stoneware and porcelain.
