Join award-winning author and performing poet Stefan Mohamed for a relaxed, informal 5-week creative writing course in Bristol, covering the basics of creative writing -- from deciding what to write, to planning a project, to developing compelling characters. Taught at our relaxed and friendly studio in Staple Hill.
You don't need to be an expert writer - this course is perfect for beginners or anyone looking to brush up on their skills. You'll be guided through all aspects of creative writing in a relaxed, supportive environment.
What to expect:
Explore different areas of creative writing including novel writing and poetry.
Start developing your creative practice and try out new ideas with likeminded creatives.
Work through imaginative exercises, with plenty of time for writing and supportive feedback!
Please bring your preferred writing implement, whether that’s a notebook and pen, laptop, or typewriter! By the end of the course, you'll have a solid foundation in writing to build on and new writing skills to keep experimenting with.
Course runs over 5 consecutive weeks and each session is 2 hours long.

Stefan Mohamed is a Bristol-based author, poet, freelance editor and creative writing tutor. He graduated from Kingston University in 2010 with a First in creative writing, and later that year won the inaugural Sony Reader Award for Unpublished Writers (part of the Dylan Thomas Prize). He is the author of five novels and four books of poetry, and has taught courses and workshops with Arvon, Bristol Folk House and The Literary Consultancy. In 2022, he won the Sansom Award (part of the Bristol Short Story Prize), for his short story 'Reservation'.
