Hand build and mould a set of small objects or tiles and learn decorating techniques that work across a set of objects. Experiment with slip colours, glaze materials and oxides.
You will learn brush techniques, mark making and illustrative application. We will use decorating oxides and tools for textures and discover some of the exciting chemistry in glaze materials.
You will finish the workshop with your own individual pieces and all the technical guidance you need for the session.
You will make a set of pieces using any tools and materials you like in my ceramics and glaze kit.
I will take your piece away at the end of the session to bisque fire - followed by a transparent glaze firing over your design.
You can pick your work up from my studio or I can send it out to you for a post and packaging fee £4.50.

Had the best time
There is plenty of space if anyone is social distancing.
Bring an apron or work shirt. Ring bell on arrival. Weekdays and weekends there are some roads you can park on for free from 11am-7pm (Zone W) or if not it's pay and display for up to 4 hours for approx £6.50 if you want to park right outside the studio. Please get in touch if you want a map of the local parking. I can send out finished pieces for £4.50 or you can pick them up from my ceramics studio in nearly Portslade.
I have been working with ceramics and glaze for 20+ years. I have taught art and pottery in schools and with community groups. I love seeing people's styles and skills develop. The workshops are playful, fun and free with all the technical support you need. Workshops have up to 10 people for a comfortable buzz and learning atmosphere, sharing ideas together. No one leaves a workshop with the same piece and all the confidence to have a another go.
My work is best known for its complex melting glazes and quietly provocative design.
It has been commissioned by companies such as Aberdeen Standard Life and Chateaux Villepreux. Last year my condiment pot was featured on The Great Pottery Throw Down!
