Harbourside history walk

1 hr 30 mins
(6)

This walking tour is a celebration of the heart of Bristol - the Harbourside.

Your experience starts in Queen Square where you’ll meet your history-loving host, Anna. As you venture along the waterways, Anna will reveal the fascinating history of the Harbourside and its importance in the development of Bristol as one of Britain's leading port cities. You’ll discover how the floating harbour was created and marvel at the engineering masterpieces that have stood the test of time, still dominating the Bristol cityscape.

Although the Harbourside may no longer be the commercial trading hub it once was, you’ll see how it has been adapted to suit the modern-day Bristolian, with leisure activities galore. This experience truly celebrates both the vibrancy of the city and the maritime heritage of Bristol.

Anna’s passion for history and her love of Bristol are sure to have rubbed off on you by the time you finish your walk near Underfall Yard. Her expert knowledge means there will be plenty of recommendations for attractions and areas to visit in and around the city included in the experience. These will come in handy if you want to continue exploring or take a refreshing break at one of the nearby pubs.

As this experience will take place entirely outdoors, please note that it could be subject to change in bad weather. If this happens, Anna will arrange a new date with you.
