What's that you ask? An ancient process where a single mental object is cast from a wax model. It can achieve anything from simple to very intricate results - the versatility is all part of its charm!

What to expect:

  • Learn how to make a bespoke ring in your perfect ring size
  • Use a variety of tools to carve and sculpt the wax ring to your personal taste
  • Surrounded yourself with like-minded individuals that have a passion for creativity and jewellery
  • Explore the meditative effects of wax carving
  • Your wax ring will be cast in Birmingham's jewellery quarter using the lost wax casting technique
  • Your ring will be finished by Josie and posted back to you

COVID-19 guidelines

  • All participants will be situated at a safe distance from one another and encouraged to use hand sanitiser upon arrival
  • Masks are not essential but encouraged

On the day

  • The closest parking is the Cheese and Grain car park which is situated directly across from the River House (1 minute walk)
  • Car park address: Market Yard, Frome, Somerset, BA11 1BE

Participants will not need to bring anything other than themselves on the day. I do recommend creating a Pinterest board to get inspired and gather ideas for what you want your ring to look like, but this is not essential.

Josie Mitchell Jewellery is a small business that creates sustainably handcrafted treasures inspired by Greek Mythology and the ocean's textures. In addition to selling her own jewellery, Josie hosts ring carving workshops where guests can make their very own silver ring using the ancient technique of lost wax casting.

Josie Mitchell

Josie is the founder and creator of Josie Mitchell Jewellery. She's been making and selling jewellery for over five years, and loved every step of the way. This creative's even worked alongside master goldsmith, Tom McEwan.

Josie currently lives in Bournemouth with her wonderful partner and puppy, but her hometown is Frome. She hopes to move back soon. When Josie's not behind the bench working on textural treasures, you'll probably find her taking a long walk along the coastline, foraging for unique and unusual textures to inspire her designs.

Josie's passionate about creating jewellery that has a positive effect on mental wellbeing and using the art of wax carving as a way to stay connected to the planet.
