Foraging for berry cordials, chutneys and syrups

What you'll do

The transition between summer and autumn is here, making this the perfect time to experience a hands-on foraging walk through a series of picturesque meadows and woodlands before making your own delicious cordials and syrups. There are also so many plants that we can use for pickling and wild chutneys!

Wild Berry Cordial and Syrup Workshop Saturday 9th October : 10am - 1pm Conham River Car Park, BS15 3AW

As you walk, you'll find an abundance of stunning wildflowers and ripening berries. These blossoms, seeds and berries can be preserved beautifully in cordials, chutneys and syrups and your knowledgable host Maria will show you how to identify and collect them from the meadows and along the hedgerows.

After this, you'll continue with the wildcrafting workshop. Here, with Maria's guidance, you'll be shown how to make a range of berry syrups, chutneys and cordials, using the wild berries to enhance the taste and the healing properties.

You'll leave the experience with lots of newfound knowledge and your own creations to enjoy at home – the chutneys are a great addition to any dish and the syrups are really tasty added to water, fizz or cocktails!

This experience is suitable for beginners and advanced foragers.

Minimum fitness level required.

About Healing Weeds

Healing Weeds started with a mission to share knowledge about the amazing plants that live around us and to empower people with practical skills to confidently make herbal remedies from these wild medicines. Foraging walks are a chance to find different plants, see where they grow and and learn more about how to harvest them and what healing properties they hold. Wild medicine workshops are practical courses, teaching you easy ways to process these plants, including how to make infused oils, decoctions, tinctures, tea blends and balms.

How to get there

What people are saying

Fabulous morning with Maria who is delightful and very knowledgable, I learnt a lot and enjoyed sampling leaves and flowers as we went. The tea we made from foraged plants was delicious as was the cordial. Highly recommend this experience
