Foraging for wild bitters and tonics

What you'll do

On these foraging walks, your host Maria will use her local knowledge to lead you along specially selected footpaths around the outskirts of Bristol.

Spring is a time to invigorate our insides, what better way than with your own bitter tonic.

Maria will help you unearth the delights of sustainable foraging and plant identification. You can even try out your map reading skills!

All that walking is bound to make you hungry, so we know you'll enjoy the delicious, wild vegan lunch that our talented outdoor chef has lovingly prepared!

After lunch, you'll use the herbs you collected to make your own cleansing spring tonic with organic apple cider vinegar.

Around the beautiful Siston Overscourt Woods, you'll find cleansing spring herbs that invigorate the body. Many of these herbs grow in nutrient-rich or damp soil so you’re likely to find them down by Siston Brook or in the hedgerows around the open fields.

Maria will expertly talk you through different ways to process wild and medicinal herbs so you can make your own remedy to take home.

Suitable for beginners and advanced foragers.

Minimum fitness level required.

Foraging walks are a chance to find different plants, see where they grow and and learn more about how to harvest them and what healing properties they hold. Wild medicine workshops are practical courses, teaching you easy ways to process these plants, including how to make infused oils, decoctions, tinctures, tea blends and balms.
