Just a stone's throw from Cardiff Castle, a short walk from its bustling high streets, lies Bute Park. This green beacon of Cardiff city glows with beautiful trees, woodlands, wildlife, rivers and cafes. Your five-mile walk around Bute Park will take all of these in.
In case you hadn't already guessed, this isn't just your average route...Bute Park features 130 acres of landscaped gardens and parkland that used to form Cardiff Castle's grounds. Named after the 3rd Marquess of Bute, whose family owned the castle, this park's no stranger to big names - having previously hosted the RHS Show. What better way to explore this special spot than with Bristol Steppin Sistas - a walking group celebrating diversity, sisterhood and the healing power of nature.
You'll find over 3,000 trees in this arboretum ranging from old and rare species to eye-catching ornamental trees. Striking sculptures, wildlife trails, a Secret Garden Cafe and the relaxing River Taff are a handful of other enchanting features. This stunning park is wonderful all year round, but in summer you'll really catch it beaming in its full glory. Join a lovely welcoming community of women, make some new friends, get outdoors and get adventurous on this gorgeous day out.

Bristol Steppin Sistas is a community that empowers women, creating safe places for them to walk while grounding their mental and physical wellbeing. The outdoors is great for clearing the mind and enjoying good times - this is what this community is all about.
This walking group welcomes everyone regardless of their culture or race. Bristol Steppin Sistas acknowledge there's been a reluctance for women of colour to venture into unfamiliar spaces where they might feel exposed, judged or vulnerable. This walking group aims to motivate women of colour to visit rural areas around Bristol they haven't seen before and step across these boundaries in the safety and company of others who share similar experiences. Join this inclusive community celebrating Mother Nature and sisterhood around the South West's most stunning locations.
Sophie is the founder of Bristol Stepping Sistas and your qualified walk leader. Growing up in the countryside, Sophie always enjoyed exploring rural areas and found spending time in nature healing. But she recognised lots of women of colour are held back from doing the same - they might feel unsafe, judged or exposed in these unknown environments. Sophie was inspired to create safe walks where women of colour felt comfortable - Bristol Stepping Sistas was born. This growing sisterhood champions exercise, fresh air and nature with an encouraging support network at its core.
