Tailored Introduction to Drumming for Beginners

Ever wanted to get into drumming but didn't know where to start? Overwhelmed by the thought of choosing a kit or setting it up? Want to improve your drumming technique or get some confidence before an audition? This drumming introduction can be tailored to any of your drumming needs!

This drumming session is for drumming beginners that want to try drums out before committing to a kit, want to practice playing before a band audition, want to learn how to read drumming music, want to improve technique- or anything in between. The beauty of this session is that it can be entirely tailored to your needs.

You can message the host to choose in advance the kit you want to play, with a choice of vintage and modern kits from Ludwig, Gretsch, Yamaha and Natal. There are also 60+ cymbals and a dozen snares to choose from.

Once you've chosen the gear you'd like to start with, you can pick from the following options: a little of everything or a close focus on something in particular. Your host can help you with:

  1. The beginner's package: everything you need to know to help you get started as easily as possible. How to set up the kit, select equipment, and where to begin with learning.

  2. Confidence building for performance. How to prepare for your first band audition or first gig and what to do when you get there.

  3. Swap kits, cymbals and snares to tailor your sound and explore how different gear suits different styles of music and playing. Get help in building your perfect setup.

  4. How to read and follow written drum music.

  5. Technique improvement. A focus on hand technique, pedal technique, playing with brushes, how to use rudiments, how to improve use of dynamics and time-keeping & more.

  6. How to choose new drum heads and how to tune drums for different styles of music.

  7. Rhythm jam session: practise playing with a bassist (your host plays bass too).

This is a friendly place to learn drums, ask any and every question to do with drumming, learn the absolute basics with an expert, discover your drumming style and much more!
