About Algy Behrens

Algy is a self-employed music teacher and music-led youth worker who has called Bristol home for the past 10 years. He has plenty of experience leading memorable music workshops which focus on collective musicality, with emphasis on composition, arrangement and dynamics. Algy always encourages people to give it their all but is also sensitive to other guests' current musicality and potential past traumas. Humour is an important part of his workshops as he finds it a brilliant way to help to break down individual and collective tensions.

As a traveler and a musician, Algy has spent years developing ways of connecting different cultural expressions into a unified whole. Doing this allows those who take part in his workshops to see their similarities and to understand how history and migration has shaped musical expression.
